How do I choose a chemo hat that suits me?

Choose a chemo hat that suits you - 10 tips by MyHeadwear.

Help, how do I find a chemo hat that suits me? If you suddenly lose your hair, it is often difficult to find  headwear, because usually your own hair was the only covering you had. There is so much headwear and many women experience time pressure to buy something quickly, because you lose your hair 3 weeks after the first chemo. To help you on your way, follow our tips below to find the chemo hat that suits you, so that it becomes your Feel-Better Favorite. And then take a look at all our chemo hats.

1. Choose your chemo hat by color

If you are looking for a chemo hat, the color is often a good starting point.

-Cloths: What colors do I have in my wardrobe and can I find a chemo hat in de same colorscheme?

-Hair color: It is also useful to look at the hair color you have. If you are light blond, a black chemo hat can sometimes appear strict or hard. And with dark hair, a beige cap can pull all the color out of your face.

-Tips: We hardly sell yellow chemo hats. Yellow is often too pale and makes you look sicker because in many cases your skin color also changes due to the chemo.

A color that many women often find attractive is jeans blue, almost everyone has jeans or a denim jacket and knows how easy it can be combined with other colors and clothing. The same goes for chemo hats in jeans color. Our site lists all headwear after chemo sorted by color, to make the search easier.

2.Pay attention to hygiene

Depending on the type of chemotherapy you receive, hygiene may be an important point to consider. Unfortunately, chemotherapy attacks not only the cancer cells, but also your white blood cells, and can affect your immune system. You should therefore be able to well clean your headwear. We actually have 3 categories of chemo hats that can be washed as follows:

1) hand wash (often chemo hats with scarf or made of bamboo)

2) at 30-40 degrees in the washing machine

3) and caps that are machine washable at 90 degrees and can even be sterilized at 120 degrees.

In general, the warmer and in the washing machine, the cleaner and less microorganisms will remain on your hat. When in doubt, you can always ask your oncology nurse if the chemotherapy you receive needs additional hygiene measures.
